First Baptist Church of Plymouth, North Carolina
To Love God and Share the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Corner

Thank you for giving so generously to all of the many mission offerings during the year. It is amazing that even though we have had an unprecedented recessional economy; you guys have given so much too so many different needs.  It just reveals your heart to share of the blessings that God has given to you.  That is essentially what the first century church was all about.  In the book of Acts, the main theme is that people gave when there was a need.   You certainly have done the same with love and compassion being your motivation.  We take a breather as such during August from a designated mission offering but there are many ways to continue to give all around us.

I have two ministries that I want you to pray about.  First, there is a need for Meals on Wheels volunteers during the summer months especially.  I was speaking with the Washington County coordinator the other day and she said there is an urgent request for more people to become involved in this special ministry.  If you can give a couple of hours of time each week to help with this, let me know.

The second need is with the Lunch Box.  This program serves soup and sandwiches to needy people each Thursday during lunchtime.  The meals are served at the Parrish House of Grace Episcopal Church in Plymouth.  Different church groups take turns providing the meals for up to 50 people each week.  Could your group whether it is a Sunday school class, WMU group, Youth group or Baptist Men’s group sign on to provide a meal? Let me know if you can.

The nominating time is upon us already as we anticipate another church year beginning in September.  Again this year we are asking you to volunteer for a position that you feel led to be involved.  Very soon, you will receive information about being nominated for the Diaconate and the Trustees.  This year all members of the church, both men and women will be eligible to serve as a Trustee of the church.  Please allow your name to be on the list of potential candidates and allow God to direct your decision to serve or not.

God bless,

Jimmy
